Issuing a licence / temporary licence to practise
A licence is a public document certifying that a medical doctor is professionally qualified to provide healthcare directly.
The Medical Chamber of Montenegro issues licences using the prescribed form, in accordance with the law and the rules governing the issuing, renewal and revocation of licences to practise medicine.
A licence to practise is issued to a medical doctor who is a Montenegrin citizen or a foreign national holding a permanent residence permit under the law governing the residence and employment of foreign nationals in Montenegro.
A licence to practise is issued for a period of seven years.
A temporary licence to practise is issued to:
- A medical doctor who is a foreign national holding a temporary residence permit under the law governing the residence and employment of foreign nationals in Montenegro. The licence is issued for a period corresponding to the approved temporary residence, in accordance with the law.
- A medical doctor residing outside Montenegro who is engaged by a healthcare institution to provide specific healthcare services. This temporary licence is issued for a maximum of one year.
The doctor must apply using the prescribed form and attach the documentation specified in Articles 7, 9 and 10 of the rules governing the issuing, renewal and revocation of licences to practise medicine.
