History of the Chamber
Article 148a of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Health Care and Health Insurance (Official Gazette of the Republic of Montenegro, No. 27 of 29 July 1994) granted healthcare professionals with university qualifications (medical doctors and dentists) the right to establish a Medical Chamber. Its purpose is to protect and advance professional competence and medical ethics, improve the quality of healthcare and protect professional interests, with rights and responsibilities defined by law and the Chamber's Statute.
The founding Assembly of the Medical Chamber of Montenegro was held on 20 June 1995.
The Assembly elected Dr Bogdan Laušević from Pljevlja as President of the Assembly of the Medical Chamber of Montenegro.
At the second Assembly, held on 8 May 1996, Dr Đoko Jočić from Podgorica was elected as the first President of the Medical Chamber of Montenegro.
According to the original page, Dr Žanka Cerović has been President of the Medical Chamber of Montenegro since 25 April 2021.
